Manchester City Triumphs at Dubai Globe Soccer Awards

Manchester City emerged as the most triumphant entity at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards held last Friday, securing six prestigious accolades during the ceremony. Among these achievements was the Best Men's Player award, bestowed upon Erling Haaland. Additionally, Nasr FC's captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, was acknowledged with three distinct honours. Nonetheless, it was indisputable that Manchester City exerted significant dominance over the proceedings.


This esteemed event, known as the 14th edition of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, was impeccably organized through the collaborative efforts of the Dubai Sports Council and the Atlantis Hotel. Notably, the distinction of Best Chairman was bestowed upon Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the esteemed Chairman of Manchester City, whereas Pep Guardiola emerged as the victor, achieving the prestigious title of Best Coach. Conclusively, their outstanding triumph in securing a treble-winning title resulted in Manchester City being declared the Best Men's Club. Furthermore, Rodri, the professional footballer, was bestowed with the honor of Best Midfielder, and the remarkable Ederson secured the coveted position of Best Goalkeeper.


The aforementioned accolades acknowledge the remarkable achievements of Manchester City throughout the 2022–23 season, wherein they secured the position of runner-up in the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup. In the year 2023, under Guardiola's guidance, his team emerged triumphant in five prominent championships, including the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.


A substantial entourage from Manchester City, comprising 25 players, graced the ceremony. Presently, they are engaged in a preparatory training program in the UAE. As per the event organizers, the victors were elected by an excess of 70 million football enthusiasts hailing from over 225 countries and regions.


Haaland emerged victorious in the bestowal of the Best Men's Player accolade by surpassing numerous luminaries in the realm of football, among whom were Ronaldo, Messi, Salah, and Mbappé. In his acceptance speech, Haaland extended his gratitude to his comrades and coach, while expressing contentment with the unwavering support bestowed upon him by his club and management.


When questioned regarding his recovery progress from the injury, Haaland expressed his aspiration to expedite his return to the game, as he had grown fatigued by the prolonged period of inactivity.


Guardiola won the Best Coach award, beating many well-known coaches, such as Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, Lionel Scaloni of Argentina, and Diego Simeone of Atlético Madrid. He pointed to his players and reviewed the glorious achievements of this club owned by Abu Dhabi in the past year.


Additional recipients of awards include Jude Bellingham, a midfield player for Real Madrid, who was presented with the Power Horse Emerging Player award. Aitana Bonmatí, a prominent figure in Spain's World Cup-winning team, garnered recognition as the Best Women's Player. The esteemed title of Best Women's Club was awarded to Barcelona, whereas Al Ahly, an Egyptian powerhouse and champion of Africa, was hailed as the Best Middle East Club. Additionally, Casemiro and John Terry were both honoured with the Player Career Award, and Scaloni won the Coach Career Award.


The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards honoured Manchester City's outstanding performance during the 2022–23 season and also recognized the outstanding contributions of other players and coaches. This grand ceremony brought an unforgettable event to the global football community.
